Happy New Year, friend,

Here we go! Lawmakers returned to the state Capitol today to kick off the 2020 Iowa legislative session. They'll make many important decisions over the next 90 days or so.

We know kids and families will be on the agenda. The question is, will lawmakers help them thrive or put harmful barriers in their path to opportunity?

  • Will they meaningfully improve our child care system or keep nibbling around the edges while care becomes harder and harder to find?
  • Will they invest in Pre-K-12 education at a level that allows local schools to meet students' needs or requires them to trim programs, lay off teachers and increase class sizes?
  • Will they embrace real workforce strategies with a track record of success or unproven schemes that increase bureaucratic red tape to drive people off health insurance and food assistance?

Will you help us help lawmakers make the right choices for Iowa's 700,000 children and their families?

We'll be at the Capitol every day—from the governor’s Condition of the State speech tomorrow to the final gavel—standing shoulder to shoulder with other dedicated advocates.

We can't do it without the support of Iowans who care about child policy and want kids' interested represented in lawmaking.

That is, we can't do it without you.
